The Shepparton Therapeutic Justice Project (TJP) was launched in 2015 to provide an integrated legal and health case management service to clients with criminal matters at the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court. A lawyer from GVCLC and a case manager from Primary Care Connect (PCC) worked together to help clients address the underlying health and social issues contributing to their offending behaviour, and to connect clients with appropriate supports to reduce the risk of recidivism. The TJP was initially funded by the Victorian Legal Services Board Grants Program and ceased in 2018 when the Court Integrated Services Program (CISP) was established in Shepparton, with our TJP Case Manager David Johns recruited to the role of CISP Coordinator.
